Evoking a pareidolic response from meditating on chaos
One of my favourite processes in painting is starting with a randomly created shambles by throwing paint around then spend some time staring into the chaos.
Images start to appear as I paint over what is not jumping out at me, I start to get drawn into a trance like state where I begin to hallucinate on the painting and refine what I see. I try to stay as impartial to the subject matter as much as possible and let what ever it is come out. The experience feels a bit like I’m watching an image appear in front of my eyes and I just happen to be holding the paint brush.
