Constant state of flux

Sean Mc Donnell

Opening: September 30 5:30 pm

Viewing: September 30 until October 10

The only constant in life is change– gestural paintings that explore the beauty and brevity of life.

“I use my artwork to express the feelings I have about the amazing beauty and brevity of life.  I feel most alive and connected to the universe when I am making art. Nature is a huge inspiration and most of my works are centred around this theme. “

I often paint plein air but also take photos on location and use these as a starting point in my art studio. I work intuitively letting the painting take on a life on its own.

Sean mc Donnell is a passionate art maker, surfer and teacher. He was born in Wellington in 1977 to parents from Northern Ireland. He moved to the North Shore in Auckland at the age of 8 and remained there until his early 20’s. Sean now lives at Baylys Beach where he paints every day.
