Colour, texture, gesture and painterly expression collide in landscape form.
With these works I have been playing with the conventions of the traditional landscape painting genre but re-interpreting it in my own way. I have used the constructs of recession into distance, atmospheric effects, a horizon line and perspective vs flatness but in my usual approach have gone at the canvas with a lot of paint and colour. I like to keep a freshness of brushstroke technique with expressive gesture and experiment with my favourite water based media – acrylic paint, ink, gloss medium and water-soluble art crayons.
