Moths of Aotearoa, New Zealand
Michael Haggie
Opening: October 26 5:30 pm
Viewing: October 26 until November 5
Moths as creatures of the wild, enchant me as a painter. I love their names and their colours, patterns and textures.
Moths in this country, as against butterflies remain comparatively neglected as a species. There is still as yet, a minimal knowledge and understanding of their life histories, distribution and their ecological cycles.
I find reading about a moth’s lifecycle fascinating and rewarding. They are secretly living their lives in our forests, wetlands and mountains. Viva our moths!!
