A vision. An exotic escape.
“In Xanadu did Kublai Khan, a stately pleasure-dome decree…. Samuel Taylor Coleridge
My fascination for the Orientalist Art of the early 19th century, and the later Dissident Art of the Russia’s during the Stalin Era, led me on a path of discovery to the sense of the exotic which cannot fail to move and entrance.
This world, created by the Ancient Silk and Spice Routes, the busy markets of Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent, awakes a powerful sense of red and gold deserts, high snowy mountains, busy spice markets, and a freedom of the well traveled road. A lockdown treat!
“When one lives far away, and draws near… the world is wider and the art richer than one had hitherto supposed”
