Mistaking Fantasy for Reality:
an investigation into how I remember my childhood things
Mistaking Fantasy for Reality: an investigation into how I remember my childhood things The emphasis throughout this research project was placed on the memory of misattribution, mistaking fantasy for reality, in relations to things from my childhood, conveyed by the processes of my glass making practice and by means of mixed media installation. My primary aim was to discover both the epistemological value of object-associated memory as a resource for visual storytelling and the form fantasy had taken through the distortions created from within liminal space of my memory. To gain an understanding of object-associated recollections within my contemporary practice, I responded to the memories of two things from my childhood, a doll and a painting. My areas of investigation focused on the theories of memory distortion, memory’s liminal space, narrative inquiry, and surrealism.
