Having not painted for a while, I was inspired by a recent stay near my old home at Taupo.

My parents owned Acacia Bay Lodge and I had a charmed and carefree childhood. They instilled a deep love and respect for the natural world and their knowledge of the native flora and fauna seeped into me, eventually leading to my path as a Botanical and Natural History artist.

This collection grew out of nostalgia for ‘the Bay’; – the unique beauty of nature’s designs ; sweet-scented ‘Mahoe’ flowers and tasty tiny fruit ; rondels of ‘fivefinger’ flowers ; shades of red berries ; fern spores ; dense, bouncy ‘Bracken’ ; ‘Huhu’  bugs draw to our light. The whimsical touch of trout flies reminds me of endless hours casting from the point.
