Wouna le Roux – Enroot: Fire Lily

$195

I explore themes of belonging, reintegration, and duality – navigating between cultures, languages, and landscapes. Nature metaphors such as germination, root growth, and the South African fire lily – whose blossoms emerge after wildfire – symbolise resilience and adaptation. Like the fire lily, my practice reflects renewal through adversity. Using reclaimed textiles and slow, meditative techniques such as stitching, wrapping, and binding, I express the layered process of adjusting to unfamiliar environments. These manual acts become rituals of mending and connection, echoing the inner work of renewal and the strength it takes to grow roots anew in shifting terrain.
