Amorphous Recollections

Amorphous; without a clearly defined shape or form. Recollections;memories
Created intuitively and largely from memory these works evoke a connection to place and personal history. Some places in particular have informed this body of work;
Virginia Lake where as children we collected empty cicada shells and hooked them onto our t-shirts in competition, ‘who could find the most?’. In later years, a place to run early morning or walk with friends solving the world.
The beaches, sand ‘freezing hot’, navigated across towel islands with a last dash to the sea. Sky stretched forever across the horizon. The cool comfort of native bush and the sweet smell of the trees. The river, ever moving, ever changing, always connecting. Spontaneous conversations at the neighbours’ houses, retired and always welcoming
The process of building layers and then scratching, digging into the works is reflective of the process of excavating memories.
