I May Be A Weed But I’m Still Gorgeous

This suite of work draws attention to Kaitiakitanga as a way of managing the environment. A kaitiaki is a guardian.
My paintings show weeds. I have incorporated them to draw attention to their importance to the eco-system as we enter times of water conservation.
For me the weeds also operate as a metaphor for the overlooked in our society. Under Kaitiakitanga all are protected. The future of humanity is dependent on values like Kaitiakitanga.
