A series of paintings that explore the beauty of ordinary moments in a woman’s life.
Life’s big moments are well remembered and will often be recorded in lovely photos and videos. Compared to those big moments, there is no lack of beauty in our ordinary daily life. However, to keep up with this fast-changing world, we generally do not have time to detach ourselves to see and feel the beauty of those ordinary ‘small’ moments.
In “Moments” I am trying to look at a woman’s ordinary daily life from a distance and use my brush to reveal the beauty of those small moments and subtle feelings. I hope that my viewer will also be able to immerse themselves to see the beauty of the similar moments in their own experience and memories.
Technically, instead of using traditional representation methods (as I normally do), I am using more flattened or exaggerated forms with expressive colour for this body of work, aiming to detach myself and my viewer from a real-life figure, to bring a better sense of empathy and to express internal sensations.
