In my recent series of ceramic vessels, I draw inspiration from the forms of flower parts, echoing the themes explored in Katherine May’s Wintering. This collection reflects a journey from the haze of burnout and hibernation toward the awakening of spring—a transition that resonates deeply in nature and our inner lives.
“Second Spring” typically refers to a renewal or rejuvenation later in life, akin to a fresh start or a new beginning after dormancy or difficulty. It draws a metaphor from the seasons, suggesting that, just as nature experiences a rebirth in spring, individuals can experience a personal revival, often later in life or after significant challenges. It emphasises that growth and renewal are possible at various stages, not just in youth.
