ANNE FRANK (1929 – 1945) Anne was a German-Dutch diarist of Jewish origin. Anne gained fame posthumously with the publication of The Diary of a Young Girl, in which she documents her life in hiding from 1942 to 1944, during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. It is one of the world’s best-known books and has been the basis for several plays and films. Frank aspired to become a journalist. In June 1999, Time magazine published a special edition titled “Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century”. Anne Frank was selected as one of the “Heroes & Icons”. Anne Frank died in the concentration camp in 1945.
