COPERARI is a design studio founded by New Zealand-born creative director Nichola Clark, bringing together contemporary design, fine art and generations-old craftsmanship through creative collaboration.

Named after the Latin word cooperari, meaning “to work together,” the studio’s inaugural collection grew from a creative collaboration between Nichola and her sister, New Zealand artist Jodi Clark. Jodi’s abstract paintings and distinctive visual language run throughout the collection, with Nichola reinterpreting elements of her work through colour, scale, material and form to create original textile designs in collaboration with artisans and ethical producers.

This creative exchange remains an important part of COPERARI’s evolving identity. Jodi’s artistic language will continue to weave through future collections, alongside new collaborations with artists, makers and creative communities around the world.

Working closely with artisan families and makers in Oaxaca, Mexico and Rajasthan, India, COPERARI brings these designs to life through hand weaving, natural dyeing, tufting, hand printing, knitting and embroidery. Each piece reflects the different hands, perspectives and generations of knowledge involved in its creation.

The studio has been shaped by years of travel, relationships with makers and a shared belief in the value of objects made slowly and with intention. Natural fibres, considered production and long-term creative relationships remain central to COPERARI’s approach, creating pieces designed to be lived with, cared for and appreciated over time.
