These works explore ideas of identity where a loss of self can occur through a loss of history. Family histories can be masked through circumstances of immigration, adoption, illegitimacy, and speculation. Sometimes the ‘truth’ is replaced by mythologizing the stories shared and handed down, and these in turn become the source of identity and reclaiming of self.
