Eliza Haarhoff – Kahuterawa Homestead

The historic villa farmhouse that features in my linocut, was originally part of a 100 hectare farm built next to the Kahuterawa valley, Manawatu in 1913. It nestles at the bottom of the Tararrua foothills and has lived through both world wars, many earthquakes, and has been home to only 3 families over 100 years.

It is now home to my family, and for the last 13 years we have been renovating this beautiful old home back to it’s former glory. It seemed appropriate to take some time to pay homage to the grand old lady who has kept all who have lived there safe and sound.
