Jill Stegmann- The Expected and Unexpected

$P O A

The Cambridge dictionary defines the nature of things as an idiom that means “the usual and expected characteristics of life.”  I am interested in the moment when the expected becomes unexpected. The construction of this piece uses my interpretation of the Japanese art of kintsugi, a method of repairing broken ceramics and then highlighting the joins with gold.

My heartfelt thanks to Ange Tier Turner and Fiona McGowan for their support during the creation of this work.
