Kokoraho – Claim title to

$2000

My work focuses on my relationship with the past and how I navigate being in this place.  Many of our roads have been forged from the tracks and pathways of Māori.  In many cases Māori were prised away from their land and the colonialists took possession, renamed it, and divided it up.  My work is also concerned with our future and the influence of asset sales, overseas ownership and the effects that this loss control might have. The problems concerning ownership and sovereignty resurfaces. How do we move forward? Our land cannot be taken for granted.

Kokoraho means – to take for oneself, claim for oneself, claim title to.
