EARTH DANCE – THE SHAPE OF DUST

Sandy de Kock

Opening: October 25 5:30 pm

Viewing: October 25 until November 4

Our farm in South Africa was called ROOIDRAAI, which literally means, “Red Turns” after the mini dust devils, which would become visible in the dry months.

They always fascinated me; they appeared in a moment, and disappeared just as quickly. They seemed to contain dancing figures, small towers of red dust twirling their way across the veldt. To me it felt as if the earth was dancing.

“For what is it to die, but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then you shall truly dance”

Khalil Gibran
