John Girdlestone

Based between Kāpiti and Whanganui, John Girdlestone has been taking photos most of his life as well as working as a production designer in the film industry for 39 years.

With the shift to digital technology he has retained his analogue roots shooting only film on medium and large format cameras.

“As a photographer I find it interesting the way a photograph can preserve a moment and I am often drawn to an image that reflects the passing of time”.

His work is digitally scanned and printed on Epson Watercolor Radiant White fine art paper with a coated matte surface and an archival permanence of 92 years.

All the photos in this exhibition were printed by DAC Group Limited, Wellington on a HP Latex Wide Format Printer. They have been a leading provider of large format photography and graphics for over 45 years.

He has previously exhibited in solo exhibitions at Photo Space – Wellington, Space – Whanganui and in group exhibitions at One Eye Gallery Paekākāriki and Mahara Gallery in Waikanae
